Study Screenplay and dramaturgy in ECPV
What to study to become a screenwriter and playwright?
A well-told story can change everything. The screenwriter is the one who shapes the foundations of any audiovisual work, creating characters, structuring conflicts, and imagining possible worlds. If you are passionate about writing, contemporary narratives, and cinema as a language, the Screenwriting and Dramaturgy course at ECPV is the ideal place to develop your voice as an author.
This two-year program prepares you to face the entire screenwriting process and dramatic construction from a practical, reflective perspective connected to the reality of the cinematic, theatrical, and serial media.
"The script is a love letter to the one who will have to shoot it." — David Mamet
Why train in screenwriting and dramaturgy?
The script is the first act of creation of an audiovisual work. Studying it allows you to master narrative tools, understand cinematic language, and collaborate with the different creative departments of a production. This course offers you not only technical training but also a space to investigate, experiment, and find your unique way of storytelling.
Throughout the training, you will learn to develop an idea from its origin to its final presentation, going through all phases of the creative and professional process: synopsis, treatment, outline, dialogues, revision, pitching, and production.
What will you learn in this course?
- Classical and contemporary dramaturgy: structure, conflict, character, and genre.
- Cinematic, theatrical language, and alternative narratives.
- History of cinema, aesthetics, film analysis, and art theory.
- Direction of actors from dramaturgy and text analysis.
- Showrunning and series screenwriting.
- Production and legislation applied to audiovisual writing.
- Practical workshops for individual and collective writing.
- Project pitching and possibility of real production.
A training designed for authors
During the two years, you will work with active tutors and teachers, analyze texts and films, write scenes, complete scripts, and participate in professional feedback sessions. The goal is for you to build an original, viable work that expresses your vision of the world with solid tools and narrative sensitivity.
Additionally, you will collaborate with students of directing, acting, and production, understanding the full process surrounding the script, and participate in transversal activities such as short films, laboratories, and industry sessions.
What career opportunities does this training offer?
Upon completing the course, you will be prepared to work as:
- Screenwriter for film, television, or theater.
- Script doctor or collaborator in development teams.
- Story editor or content creator for platforms.
- Playwright or stage author.
- Researcher or critic specialized in audiovisual narrative.
And above all, you will have begun to build your own voice, the one every good story needs to excite, surprise, and endure over time.
