The short will be submitted to the world's most prestigious film festivals.

The jury of the 28th edition of the KIMUAK program has selected seven short films from 41 submissions to make up the 2025 catalogue, which will be promoted at international film festivals. The program, organized by Etxepare Euskal Institutua and Zineuskadi, supports Basque cinema. This year’s selection committee, made up of three international experts —Aitor Oñederra, Alejandra Trelles, and María Juárez— evaluated works of fiction, documentary, and experimental film.
Dicen que tu Padre among the selected films
Among the selected works is DICEN QUE TU PADRE, the second short film by promising Biscayan director Aitor Abio.
A graduate in Audiovisual Communication from Mondragon Unibertsitatea, he is currently studying for a diploma in film directing at the ECPV film school in Bilbao.
As part of these studies, he has directed two films; his debut Patrimonio was included in the Kimuak 2024 selection.
In this fiction piece, actors Izaro Nieto and Iñigo Salinero are brought face to face. When their father becomes entangled in a scandal he refuses to talk about, Izaro tries to protect her younger sister by keeping her in the dark.
The short film was produced by ECPV, with the collaboration of Diego H. Kataryniuk, David Pedrosa, and Guillermo Rivera.
A total of seven selected
The KIMUAK 2025 catalogue includes fiction, various forms of documentary, and experimental works. In addition to Dicen que tu Padre, the following films have been selected: El Regalo, Erreka Zoko Hortan, Habana Industrial, Las Manchas del Jaguar, Sueños de Viernes, and Ultramarino.
