Professional Experience

Benito Macías Cantón is a filmmaker and anthropologist from Oviedo, born in 1985. Throughout his career, he has held various roles in the film industry, including producer, editor, sound designer, and distributor.

In 2014, he founded Teorema Films, an author cinema production and distribution company based in the Basque Country.

In the academic field, Benito Macías Cantón has worked as a professor of sound post-production at the School of Cinema of the Basque Country (ECPV).

Additionally, he has shared his passion for cinema by participating in platforms such as MUBI, where he has rated and reviewed various films since 2013.

Currently, he is developing his debut feature titled The Rehearsal, a 70-minute production that combines elements of documentary and fiction, with a narrative centered around the rehearsal of a play.

Benito Macías Cantón's work is characterized by his focus on experimentation and ethnography, always seeking to explore and reframe different approaches in author cinema.
