Begin your training at ECPV to become part of the exciting world of cinema.

Bizkaia has established itself as one of the major film locations in the country. The Bilbao Bizkaia Film Commission, created by the Bilbao City Council and the Provincial Government, recorded an average of five shoots per day last year. In 2023 alone, 28 feature films were shot (compared to 12 the previous year) and 11 series (up from 7), along with numerous commercials, shorts, and music videos. Film crews visited up to 74 municipalities, although Bilbao, Getxo, and Orduña remain the most sought-after spots. In some places, there are even waiting lists, and sometimes multiple productions have coincided on the same street.
This boom has sparked growth in the surrounding industry: a decade ago there were 284 companies offering services related to filming; today there are nearly 450. Around 2,000 professionals now work directly in Bizkaia’s audiovisual sector, not counting indirect activities such as transport, hospitality, or catering. The annual economic impact exceeds 100 million euros, and the Provincial Government is eager to keep the momentum going — while also monitoring that the high concentration of shoots doesn’t cause issues in the most popular municipalities.
If you dream of being part of this rapidly growing industry, the Basque Country Film School (ECPV) is the perfect place to start your journey. Here, you won’t just learn from active professionals — you’ll have the chance to connect with real productions and gain access to a vibrant network full of opportunities. Whether you want to work behind the camera, direct, or produce your own stories, ECPV offers the training, tools, and environment you need to turn your passion into a profession and be part of this exciting phenomenon from the inside.
