Professor of Cinematography
Adri Nogales, a cinematographer trained at the University of the Basque Country (EHU) and the School of Cinematography of Catalonia (ESCAC), and a professor of cinematography at the Basque Country Film School (ECPV), has been selected to participate in the prestigious ASC Vision Mentorship Program.
As reflected in the interview recently published in the newspaper Deia, this opportunity represents a fundamental step in his professional career. The program offers personalized mentorship with elite professionals in the industry, where Adri will be able to review his work, receive expert advice, and refine his vision and technique in cinematography.
In addition to his work in advertising and fiction—notably his role as director of photography on Irabazi arte, the first series filmed and produced in the Basque Country—Adri combines his professional career with teaching at the ECPV, where he transmits to his students not only technical knowledge, but also a passion for telling stories through images.
For Adri, cinematography is much more than a technical job: it is “being at the service of the story, transforming emotions into images that convey a sincere and authentic atmosphere.” This philosophy permeates both his professional work and his educational endeavors, training new generations of filmmakers committed to audiovisual storytelling.

The ASC Vision Mentorship Program is an exclusive international mentorship program for emerging cinematographers from around the world. Organized by the American Society of Cinematographers (ASC), this initiative offers selected participants the unique opportunity to work closely with top-tier professionals who have extensive experience in the audiovisual industry.
The program is based on personalized mentorship where mentees—in this case, cinematographers in training or in the early stages of their careers—receive direct guidance on their work, creative processes, and technical and artistic decision-making. It is not a conventional academic program, but rather a space for sharing practical experience, constructive criticism, and strategic advice that helps develop a unique and professional vision.
The prestige of the ASC Vision Mentorship Program lies in the quality and experience of its mentors, many of whom are internationally acclaimed cinematographers, and in the select group of participants, who are typically outstanding talents with great potential. Participation in this program represents significant recognition within the industry and opens doors to future collaborations and projects.
For a professional like Adri Nogales, recently selected, this opportunity represents a decisive boost to continue developing his career and perfecting his technique, learning directly from those who have set trends in cinematography globally.
