Faculty and alumni present projects at Zinemaldia.
This year, in addition to presenting two projects in the Kimuak 2024 catalogue during the presentation of Euskal Zinema (Basque Cinema), the 72nd edition of the San Sebastian Festival is hosting several productions in which both ECPV alumni and teachers are participating. Thus, within the Zinemira section, two projects have been presented in which ECPV is represented within the team.
“This is not Hollywood (The unfinished story of the Ibarretxe brothers)”, the documentary directed by Jone Ibarretxe, daughter of Josemi Ibarretxe, analyses the brothers' films and reviews the career of these brothers who opted for a different cinema “made in Euskadi”. Ainara López, tutor of the editing diploma, and María Eunate Martínez, editing alumni, worked on the editing of this documentary. On the other hand, alumni Nerea Falagan co-directs and signs the photography of the documentary.
“Chaplin, Gypsy Spirit” directed by Carmen Chaplin, is a documentary that deals with the Romani roots and their influence on Chaplin’s films through exclusive interviews and images from home movies. In the documentary, Ernesto Báez, a professor of photography direction, worked as a camera assistant (focus puller).
On the other hand, closing the festival is the long-awaited second film by director Galder Gaztelu-Urrutia, “El Hoyo 2”, where, as happened in the first installment, the majority of the team is made up of alumni and teachers from the ECPV.
